May-Jane Chen Scientific Writing in Psychology Prize

The prize is awarded to the student who achieved the highest mark in an assessment piece in any year three psychology course.

About the donor

The prize is named for Dr May-Jane Chen who was born in Taiwan and received her PhD from the University of Sydney in 1973. Dr Chen taught at the National Taiwan University for four years, before commencing her 32 year appointment at ANU. Her teaching areas included research methods, cognition, human intelligence and psychometrics and she published on the development of intellectual functioning and Chinese psycholinguistics. She served as the Honours convenor in the School of Psychology for over 15 years. Dr Chen retired from the ANU in July 2003 but maintained her links with the School of Psychology as a visiting Fellow.
