Expanding the definition of Forensic Psychology in Australia: Implications for teaching, research & engagement

Date & time

4–5pm 22 September 2015

Associate Professor Jeffrey Pfeifer, Department of Psychological Sciences, Swinburne University

This presentation will review the current definitions of forensic psychology employed around the world and argue that the Australian definition should embrace a more inclusive and expansive definition.  It will be suggested that a move toward a more expansive definition should include a tripartite approach aimed at students, academics/researchers and industry.  Examples of academic and research initiatives under this expanded definition will be presented as well as a discussion regarding how an expanded definition relates to a variety of issues such as student employability, research opportunites and additional industry engagement prospects.
